frequently asked questions
I welcome your questions concerning my photography and how I work with clients. Here's a sampling of a few common queries. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have other questions on your mind!
What equipment do you use?
I shoot 100% digital and use professional Nikon camera bodies and lenses. I prefer natural light and use minimal off-camera lighting. I carry backup camera bodies, lenses, and lighting to every shoot.
What is your style of shooting?
I enjoy capturing candid moments when people are allowed to just be themselves. When photographing people, I generally offer minimal direction – just enough so that they feel relaxed, but not so much that I am like a quarterback barking orders.
Do you provide formal portraits for wedding photography?
Of course! Most couples like to set aside 30 minutes to an hour to take formal portraits of themselves and with their families. This can occur before or after your ceremony and is included in every wedding package. However, the majority of the photos from your wedding will be honest, unposed moments that capture the story of your day.
Can I buy digital negatives of my photos?
Yes, you can purchase digital negatives of your photos for both wedding and portrait photography. You have the option of buying digital negatives individually or of purchasing all the images from your wedding or portrait session at a discounted rate.
What kind of albums do your offer?
I offer two types of albums: mounted albums, which consist of actual photographs mounted onto the album pages, and press-printed books, also known as coffee table books. I also offer portfolio image boxes – these are beautifully crafted boxes that contain 20 matted prints, ready for display. A detailed album price list is available upon request.
What is the process for hiring your services?
Please request a price list to get a general overview of the services and products I offer. After you've had a chance to review the pricing, we can arrange to meet in person to discuss your photography needs in more detail. This is also an opportunity for you to view sample prints and albums. Once you are ready to book a date, you must pay part of the total cost in order to hold your reservation. Wedding photography requires an initial payment of $500, and portrait photography requires an initial payment of $100. These payments are non-refundable.
What happens after my wedding or portrait session?
Your images will be ready in two to four weeks and will be placed in a password-protected online gallery. You will be able to order prints directly from your gallery. If you have purchased the digital negatives for your wedding or portrait session, you will receive the negatives shortly after your images have been posted online. If you are interseted in purchasing an album, you can have as much or as little input into the design process as you like. All albums are custom-designed, and the design process takes one to two weeks – more time if you have extensive input. Once your order has been placed with the album company, please allow about four weeks for your album to be completed.
